4th Meeting Questions

1. Looking back at the list of your positive characteristics and qualities, what do you feel and realize about it?

- I feel good about it. Because I'm not really aware and I don't pay too much attention to the positive characteristics and qualities of mine. I rarely think about it that's why I don't appreciate it that much. But then, after our fourth meeting on Values011, I learned self-appreciation. However, its not about taking too much pride on my good characteristics and achievements and brag it to other people, but its more about accepting myself exactly as who I really am. And that's really important. I'll have self-respect and through that I can respect other people and vice-versa.

2. The Golden Rule says, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

a. Given the following situations, how would you like to be treated by your teachers and schoolmates:

- when you have given wrong answers to the questions during recitation:

I'll appreciate it if they will consider my answer and try to explain to me properly why I'm wrong.

- when you are expressing your opinion during class or group discussion:

Ofcourse, I like them (my teacher and schoolmates) to pay attention to me whether or not my opinion is correct. Its like giving respect if they'll listen while I'm talking.

- when you are giving suggestions during group work or presentation:

Its unavoidable that my suggestion might not be accepted but it will bring me a good feeling if my groupmates will give what I'm suggesting a try and give a consideration to it.

- when you commit mistake:

No man wanted to feel down and get offended, so when I commit a mistake I don't like other people to treat me like an insect or tease me like I'm very stupid. What I want them to do is accept me and understand why I've done wrong.

- when you don't like doing what they ask you to do:

I want them to respect my decision. 'Coz i reaaly mean it when I said I don't want what they're asking me to do.

- when they want to give you comments or suggestions?

I'll be grateful if they correct the things I've done wrong or give me comments and suggestions for my own sake if and only if they do it the right way. I mean if they talk to me properly and nicely so that I won't get offended.

b. Considering the given ideas on how to treat others with restpect what can you commit to yourself in terms of dealing with the MCL commmunity: teachers, students, employees, security, maintenance/janitors and canteen personnel?

- Just like what the Golden Rule says, I promise that I won't do things to others that I don't want to be done on me. In simple words, I'll respect everybody surrounding me inside and outside the MCL community so that I'll gain their respect also. No matter who you are, your status in life, your gender, religion and nationality, I'll treat you with the utmost courtesy, honesty and equality.

3rd Meeting Question

A reflection about one of my significant classroom experiences during my past few days at MCL.

- I find my everyday experiences in MCL very significant. Not only because I learn more and more everyday but because I get to know my classmates better. Everyday before our class starts, we find time chitchatting and relating each others' life experiences. Even our sharings are simple and not really "dramatic" and to the deeper level, it gives me realization and somehow deeper impression on that person. Each day we express ourselves bolder and we're not afraid to show who we really are. Just like our funny sides especially J-lee's and Ferdie's. They're very jolly and make all of us in class happy. Besides, I find myself lucky to be in this section (A72). Eventhough we're just together for a very short period of time, it seems that there's a tie bonding us. Everyone respect and accept each others' personalities whether it is good or bad.

1st Meeting Questions

1. How does Values Education work to your advantage?

- Values Education may seem very simple and maybe sometimes we disregard and don't pay attention to it. But in a wider sense, Values Education is very important to us. Why? Because in here we refresh our minds on the our needed values and we have time to reflect on our own attitudes. As for me, I knew myself more through this. I learned some new things to develop my own personality and principles in life. That's why I believe that it is always in my advantage to take up a course like this.

2. After you have processed your first few experiences at MCL, in what way this will help you achieve successful adjustment in college?

- I learned a lot on myself on my first week of being a college student. I managed to overcome my fear and gain my confidence. I know that this means a lot for me to be able to succeed in college. Although its kind of difficult because I'm in a new environment and take note, I'm far away from my family. So I'm learning to live independently and that I believe is a preparation for my future life.

2nd Meeting Questions

1. How was your first week of stay at MCL? How do you feel about your teachers and schoolmates? How do you find your courses? What sort of adjustment you still have to meet in terms of your academics, emotions and social involvement?

- Being in a new environment is really difficult. You have to make a lot of adjustments to be able to get in the flow of your new surroundings. Well, my first week stay at MCL is fun although its quite scary. I felt nervous because I didn't know what my new classmates will be like and if we will get along fine. But all my second thoughts disappeared. I have met good people and they were really nice. As for my teachers, I found them really good. They know what they're teaching by heart and they were concerned to us. I just got a little difficulty regarding my courses. So I was hoping that i can catch up as soon as possible. And to be able to do that, I promised myself to be extra hardworking and more time conscious.

2. How would you like your first year in college be? What specifically you have to do to achieve these desires?

- I like my first year in college to be a success. Ofcourse I want to pass all the courses and have good grades. But not just only that. I want it to be full of fun and excitement with my new friends and classmates. I don't want to regret anything from it so I'll do my best to make this year of my life worthy and full of happiness.
